    One of the fears about this type of search is that it will increase competition for grants, implying that one has increased odds if the grant is a well-kept secret. On the contrary, if done well, it will help find "the shoe that fits." Rather than hoping we get funded by a "shoe funder," we can search a foundation who funds vegan shoes in size 8 made in Nebraska.
